Sol and Tião are born to different social backgrounds—she to a poor suburban family in Rio, and him to an even poorer family who raised cattle in West São Paulo State. They eventually meet, due to unlikely circumstances, but part again, as she has set as her ultimate priority to reach the United States or bust. While she comes to the U.S. to live as an illegal immigrant, he remains in Brazil and, despite many trials and tribulations, he becomes a successful rodeo cowboy.

Suave Veneno is a Brazilian telenovela produced and aired on TV Globo in January 18 to September 18, 1999, in time from 21 hours, a total of 209 chapters. It was written by Aguinaldo Silva with help of Angela Carneiro, Maria Helena Nascimento, Felipe Miguez, Fernando Rebello and Marilia Garcia. The telenovela was directed by Marcos Schechtman, Alexandre Avancini and Moacyr Goes with the general direction of Ricardo Waddington, Marcos Schechtman and core Ricardo Waddington and Daniel Filho. It was played by TV Globo International in 2007 with a total of 140 chapters. There were 130 episodes of the version shown on Portuguese television. Featured José Wilker, Glória Pires, Irene Ravache, Letícia Spiller, Patrícia França, Ângelo Antônio, Luana Piovani, Tarcísio Filho, Vanessa Lóes, Nívea Maria, Betty Faria and Rodrigo Santoro in lead roles in the plot.

Maria Eduarda "Duda" Pinheiro is a successful top model. After being hired to model Covery brand clothes, she meets the Kundera brothers, Alex and Gaspar, owners of the company. Alex begins to love Duda, however she falls in love with Lucas, a graffiti artist who is on the run from the São Paulo police due to his involvement in a crime there. He is also searching for his real father, and thinks it's either Alex or Gaspar.

Kiki Blanche is a former star dedicated to her family and her beauty salon, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. In addition to Milena, her legitimate daughter, Kiki raises Fernanda, Paulo, Renata and Regina. The great conflict of the plot is Fernanda's passion for Fábio, a man also loved by Milena.
